About Ogier
Ogier is a global legal and professional services firm with operations spanning Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean.
The Challenge
As part of its sustainability journey, Ogier committed to setting SBTi near-term and net-zero targets, aiming to reduce emissions across its global operations and value chain. Ogier sought to build a structured system to track emissions performance annually from 2019 through 2025, with a focus on ensuring transparency and continuous improvement.

Our Approach
1. Establishing a Global Carbon Inventory
RESET supported Ogier in building a comprehensive Scope 1–3 carbon inventory across all global offices:
- Defined organizational and operational boundaries in alignment with the GHG Protocol, and developed robust and consistent methodologies tailored to different office types, ensuring appropriate data collection and calculation approaches.
- Continuously enhanced inventory accuracy and data quality by refining calculation methodologies, particularly for Scope 3 emissions. This included enhancing the granularity of financial entries for Category 1, obtaining actual travel data through the adoption of travel agencies for Category 6, and conducting group-wide employee surveys to collect commuting data for Category 7.
2. Setting Science-Based Targets (SBTi)
RESET supported Ogier in setting both near-term and net-zero science-based targets aligned with a 1.5°C pathway:
- Supported the submission and validation of a near-term SBT in 2023
- Supporting the revalidation of the near-term target and submission of net-zero target, following significant data refinement and emissions recalculation in 2025
This ensures that Ogier’s commitments remain credible, compliant, and up to date.
3. Developing a Decarbonization Roadmap
RESET supported Ogier in developing a high-level decarbonization roadmap across Scope 1–3 emissions, grounded in a data-driven and location-specific approach:
- Identified key emission hotspots across Scope 1, 2, and 3 to prioritize reduction efforts
- Assessed abatement potential by office, considering factors such as operational characteristics, geographic location, and renewable energy (RE) availability and travel patterns
- Developed tailored decarbonization strategies for different regions and office types, ensuring alignment with both feasibility and impact
This approach enables Ogier to implement targeted and practical reduction actions, while maintaining alignment with its overall net-zero ambition.
4. Building a Reduction Implementation Framework
To ensure ongoing management and accountability, RESET developed a structured system for reduction implementation:
- Developed a carbon calculation tool to streamline internal data collection, processing, and reporting across regions, and to enable consistent tracking of emissions trends and performance
- Supported Ogier in reviewing its annual Progress Reports to monitor emissions trends and assess progress against targets
This enables Ogier to maintain year-on-year visibility of emissions and track progress toward its targets.
Key Outcomes
Ogier has taken significant steps in advancing its decarbonization ambition:
- Established a comprehensive global carbon inventory (Scope 1–3)
- Built a structured tracking and monitoring system (2019–2024)
- Approved SBTi-aligned near-term target in 2023; Revalidation of near-term target and submission of net-zero target in 2025, pending for approval.
- Developed a practical decarbonization roadmap
- Strengthened data quality, governance, and decision-making capabilities
As a result, Ogier stands in good stead to transition from measurement to meaningful emissions reduction, with the structures and insights required to drive long-term impact.
“RESET Carbon have been pivotal to Ogier’s decarbonisation journey since 2021. They are deeply knowledgeable, responsive and their engaging approach makes working with them seamless and impactful. They are a pleasure to work with.”
Gill Knights, Head of Sustainability at Ogier
Looking Ahead
Ogier will continue to enhance its carbon management capabilities by improving data accuracy, strengthening governance, and advancing implementation of its decarbonization roadmap. With a strong foundation in place, Ogier is well-positioned to navigate evolving SBTi requirements and drive meaningful emissions reductions over time.
Ogier represents a model example of how RESET Carbon supports clients across the full carbon management journey: from establishing a robust carbon inventory, to developing a decarbonization roadmap, to committing to science-based targets, and ultimately to reduction measures implementation.
