About GlobalTown Development:
GlobalTown Development (GTB) offers bespoke, high-quality office spaces for businesses in Taiwan. It has leased the GlobalTown Plaza building from Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and has committed to transforming it into an innovative, multi-functional hub featuring co-working, co-living, and co-housing spaces.
The Challenge:
As purveyors of the Proptech Accelerator, a program run in conjunction with the MOEA, GTB selected companies to innovate and enhance their offerings. In recognition of the importance of carbon accounting and management, they decided to develop their carbon inventory for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and assess their carbon performance. RESET collaborated with Unravel Carbon for the first time since formalising the partnership in early 2024, to provide an integrated platform for carbon management, seeking to streamline the data collection processes and deliver high-quality and readily available inventory data for subsequent strategies.
Our Approach:
To capture the carbon inventory for 14 floors of the GlobalTown Plaza, RESET facilitated the production of a carbon performance report outlining emission hotspots and trends via the Unravel Carbon platform. This involved:
Hotspot Analysis:
A thorough analysis of the building’s top-emitting areas was conducted and published via Unravel Carbon’s interactive dashboards. This involved RESET collecting and reviewing consumption data and developing a carbon inventory using the latest available emission factors.
Detailed Performance Analysis:
A behavioural analysis report was delivered based on the emission data from 2023.
Key outcomes at a glance:
- Faster insights generation: by leveraging the efficiency of the Unravel Carbon management platform, RESET was able to reduce the time required to generate data insights and analysis by approximately 40%.
- Seasonal trends extraction: GTB was able to successfully identify seasonal emissions trends over the past year, linked to specific areas of the building.
- Carbon inventory and performance assessment: RESET delivered a thorough analysis of floors 4-17 of the GlobalTown Plaza.
Result:
As a result of the innovative pilot program, GTB now has enhanced visibility of its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and has established a robust framework and methodology to continue developing its emissions inventory moving forward. This enables GTB to quantify the impacts of its decarbonization and energy efficiency initiatives while identifying target areas for future improvement.
By collaborating with leading-edge technology partners such as Unravel Carbon, RESET was able to deliver a fresh and efficient approach to GTB’s decarbonization challenges.
