Launching Soon: Our Low-Carbon Construction Solutions Procurement Guideline

With over 40% of global GHG emissions stemming from the property and construction industries — half of which is due to construction materials — it is clear that the built environment sector must act now on decarbonization. We understand that low-carbon materials are key to driving progress, but they are costly, and the industry faces significant challenges, particularly in specifying the right materials, determining which types to source, incorporating them into tender requirements and finding reliable suppliers.

Given that Hong Kong has the highest concentration of property developers committed to Science Based Targets in Asia, players in the market will be familiar with the complexity of the challenge, and thus we have been working on a solution.

By forming a buyers’ group with the Hong Kong PropTech Alliance, we have produced our first product, the ‘Technical Procurement Guideline for Low-Carbon Construction Solutions’.

Developed with input from major private sector stakeholders, this toolkit is a first-of-its-kind technical guideline offering actionable steps for implementing low-carbon solutions in procurement and project processes. It covers practical information such as which materials to buy, how to form an embodied carbon working group, and detailed implementation guidance on how to write material specifications.

The industry is moving quickly on its sustainability ambition! Stay at the forefront of built environment innovation – Register your interest to receive the guideline upon release.
