Gammon Group receives SBTi approval

Our team is proud to see Gammon Group become the first construction and engineering company in Greater China to receive approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its near-term science-based emissions reduction targets.

This is a tremendous effort from Gammon Group and provides an excellent blueprint for other construction and engineering companies to follow suit.

Gammon Group has ambitious plans to reduce its carbon footprint and strive for net zero, having committed to reduce its operational and value chain emissions. They will achieve this through early site electrification, the deployment of electric plant and vehicles, increased energy efficiency and the adoption of modern methods of construction.

They have also committed to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services by 33% within the same timeframe. These include modularisation and reuse of structural steel, lower carbon concrete mixes, procurement of lower carbon steel, optimised material usage through design and construction methods, and selection of alternative materials with a lower carbon footprint.

Our Hong Kong team is thrilled to have worked with Gammon Group through the SBT development and validation process.
