About the Client
AAC Technologies is a leading provider of sensory experience solutions, specializing in acoustics, optics, haptics, sensors, semiconductors, and precision manufacturing. As a critical supplier in the global electronics value chain, AAC is committed to embedding sustainability into its core operations and leveraging continuous improvement to support long-term decarbonization.
The Challenge
For a global leader such as AAC, with multiple production sites and complex manufacturing systems, a key challenge was scaling energy and carbon management from fragmented, site-level initiatives to a unified, group-level framework, while balancing steady decarbonization with stable production operations. The project focused on three priority needs:
- Identifying and scalingh igh-impact energy-saving opportunities across manufacturing sites and translating them into actionable improvement measures
- Standardizing energy and carbon management practices to bridge knowledge gaps between sustainability, procurement, production, and operations teams
- Improving Scope 3 data quality and calculation readiness by addressing data collection gaps across production processes and supplier-related activities
RESET’s Approach
RESET served as AAC’s group carbon management consultant, helping build a practical, electronics sector-focused energy and carbon management strategy at both group and portfolio levels. Grounded in on-site assessments, factory observations, and operational team interviews, RESET developed targeted and scalable recommendations tailored to AAC’s manufacturing systems, enabling practical implementation across multiple production sites. Our approach comprised of 5 key actions:
1. Site-Level Energy Efficiency Assessment
- Conducted comprehensive on-site assessments across selected AAC manufacturing sites
- Reviewed key energy-consuming systems, including Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), compressed air, and major utilities
- Identified practical energy-saving opportunities with estimated savings, cost benefits, and implementation priorities
- Used site-level findings as the foundation for AAC’s group-level energy and carbon management program

2. Customized Energy Management Guidebooks
- Translated factory assessment findings into group-level management tools
- Supported the development of the Green Procurement Policy, Energy Management Guidebook, and Measurement System Design Guidebook
- Tailored guidance to AAC’s electronic manufacturing operations, equipment systems, and site-level management needs
- Standardized energy use, procurement practices, smart metering design, and data governance across facilities
‘‘AAC Technologies has appointed RESET Carbon as its group carbon management consultant. The collaboration has supported the drafting of core documents to underpin the Group’s environmental goals. These resources form a systematic framework to standardize energy usage, optimize procurement practices, and enhance the Group’s overall ESG performance tailored to its electronic manufacturing operations.’’

3. Targeted Carbon Management Training Program
- Delivered a live, interactive training program for around 70 cross-functional professionals
- Built training content around real issues identified during site assessments
- Covered site-level carbon emissions, supported green factory development, and built Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon management with a combination of practical skills, case sharing and self-evaluation
- Helped bridge knowledge gaps across procurement, production, operations, and engineering teams

‘The collaboration with RESET Carbon has been particularly impactful as we advance the development of a structured facility management system, integrating decarbonization into our core management practices and effectively bridging site-level implementation with group-level strategy. This has enabled a meaningful and accelerated transition, marking a significant step forward in our sustainability journey.’
Cindy Li, Head of Sustainability, AAC
4. Scope 3 Data Collection and Calculation Support
- Reviewed AAC’s production processes and existing Scope 3 data collection practices
- Conducted factory interviews to identify data gaps, ownership issues, and calculation challenges
- Provided data collection recommendations and calculation templates for Scope 3 data
- Improved Scope 3 data consistency, traceability, and reporting readiness across the value chain
5. Energy Efficiency Implementation Supporting
- Supported end-to-end implementation from concept to commissioning
- Coordinated stakeholders including facility teams, vendors, and contractors
- Ensured project delivery aligns with technical, financial, and operational targets
- Verified actual energy savings through data-driven performance assessment
- Enhanced long-term operational efficiency through optimization and training
- Supported clients in achieving energy cost reduction and decarbonization goals
Key Outcomes at a Glance
By combining technical assessments, stakeholder engagement, and implementation support, RESET’s engagement with AAC Technologies helped transform sustainability ambitions into concrete outcomes:
- Identified approximately 14% energy-saving potential across four pilot manufacturing sites, with estimated annual cost savings of over RMB 24 million
- Developed three customized group-level management tools to standardize green procurement, energy management, and smart metering design
- Delivered carbon management training to around 70 cross-functional professionals, strengthening internal implementation capability across production sites
- Supported Scope 3 data collection and calculation readiness, improving value chain emissions management and reporting quality
- Supported implementation across the 7 priority sites, ensuring consistent adoption of decarbonization measures
Looking Ahead
RESET’s collaboration with AAC Technologies helped translate site-level energy efficiency insights into a practical, group-level energy and carbon management framework. As the electronics sector faces growing pressure from customers, investors, and value chain emissions requirements, integrated and data-driven carbon management will be essential for manufacturers to stay competitive and accelerate their net-zero transition.
