About the Company
A global technology company known for a wide range of products from software to devices and service solutions and a strong commitment to sustainability with internal net-zero commitments.
The Challenge
The global technology leader decided to accelerate its mission to decarbonize its electronics supply chain. With manufacturing partners spread across Asia and a complex network of suppliers producing high-impact components, such as displays, enclosures, batteries, power supply and PCBs, the company faced a critical question: how can energy efficiency be scaled across diverse facilities while maintaining production quality and cost-effectiveness?
RESET’s Approach
In response to the technology leader’s challenge, RESET Carbon designed and implemented the first phase of a bespoke Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Program. The goal was to identify energy hotspots, engage piloting suppliers in targeted interventions, and build a scalable roadmap for long-term emissions reduction.
We deployed a multidisciplinary team of engineers and consultants across China, Vietnam, and South Korea to conduct 20 facility assessments, 7 onsite and 13 online. The program was structured around four key pillars:
- Hotspot Mapping & Benchmarking
Using lifecycle assessment (LCA) data, RESET identified high-emission components and processes. Facilities were benchmarked against industry standards to highlight performance gaps and prioritize engagement.
- Toolkit Development
RESET conducted on site and online technical walkthroughs and interviews to evaluate energy systems, identify inefficiencies, and propose tailored energy efficiency upgrading solutions.
- Supplier Engagement & Evaluation
RESET conducted technical walkthroughs and interviews either on site or online to evaluate energy systems, identify inefficiencies, and propose tailored energy efficiency upgrading solutions.
- Roadmap & Feasibility Reporting
Each facility received a customized roadmap outlining energy-saving measures, investment requirements, and expected returns. These were then consolidated into a brand-level strategy to guide future decision-making.
A comprehensive brand report and playbook were developed to support future supplier capability building and scale-up across the broader supply chain.

Results from the Pilot Phase
The first phase of the Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Program provided a critical foundation for understanding energy use across the client’s supply chain. Through deep technical assessments and supplier engagement, RESET Carbon uncovered actionable opportunities for emissions reduction and operational improvement. The pilot not only delivered measurable savings but also validated a scalable approach for future implementation.
Pilot Outcomes
- 20 suppliers engaged
- 60 energy efficiency projects reviewed
- 5+ million kWh saved
- 2,800+ tonnes CO₂e emissions reduced
Top-performing suppliers achieved up to 30% energy intensity reduction, with impactful measures including:
- Installation of variable speed drives for HVAC systems
- Compressed air leakage detection and pressure optimization
- Lighting automation and equipment upgrades
2026 Roadmap
- 80+ energy efficiency projects identified, with 73% aligned for implementation
- 10+ million kWh potential savings
- 6,000+ tonnes CO₂e reduction opportunity
Projects were categorized into nine types, including HVAC control, compressed air optimization, equipment upgrades, and energy management systems. RESET also identified deferred opportunities for future implementation, based on feasibility and budget constraints.
